Characteristics
L18-19  WS 28, Male-Low, flat black head with white crescent on cheek, Black spur from back to breast, Dark bill, Female bill mostly yellow, Dark brown head and brown-gray body.   They eat mollucks, aquatic insects, fish and crustaceans. In summer they prefer wooded lakes and rivers and in winter coaster lakes. They lay 8-10 olive-green eggs in a tree cavity, nest box, rock crevice or on the ground. Precocial, One brood.
