Description
Length
19", wingspan 29". A diving duck. Trailing edge of wing pale, contrasts
dark forewing. Rounded head and back. Female is brownish,
gray bill with black tip. Male breeding plumage- rufous head and
neck, blue bill with black tip, light eyes, gray back, black breast and
tail. In non-breeding plumage male has more muted color on head, breast
dark brown and back light brown.
