Description
Length 4.5" Wingspan 5.5".  Round head - whitish-gray tertial edges and breast - short , thin, dark  bill - gray back - undertail mostly black with 2 pairs of white tear-drop shaped patches, the tip edge pair are not as elongated as the pair nearest to the body -  tan undertail coverts - dark legs.  Male in  breeding plumage has white eye-ring and black cap.  Male in non-breeding plumage  has plain gray head with a black streak over the eye and a pale eye-ring.

They inhabit desert brush areas.
