John Richards located this beetle in Tucson, Arizona and I photographed it 11 June 2011
 

"The insect is one of the blister beetles (family Meloidae), and it belongs to the genus Tegrodera.  
There are several species in this genus that are quite similar, and I am not able to provide 
an exact identification." Shawk Clark
