Characteristics
- 2 inches
long.
- Has four black
spots on forewing and hindwing.
- Male has 2 dark
spots each wing, the outer one is shaped
like a number 8 and goes from leading edge
to trailing edge.
- Also has 3 white
spots.
- The end of the
wing is clear.
- Abdomen and the
top of the thorax is pruinose
blue.
- The female has a
brown body with dashed yellow side
stripes.
- The female wings
are like the male's.
- They fly from
April to October and prefer ponds, lakes and
ditches
