Characteristics
Size: Native 130 to 250 foot tall tree Leaves: 3/4 to 1 1/2 inch long, flat, yellow or blue-green needles growing all around the branch 
Fruit
: light brown, 3 to 4 inch long cones hang downward,
have a 3-pointed bract extending beyond the scales Other: This tree has been a major component
of the forests of western North American since the mid-Pleistocene (Hermann 1985)
