Characteristics
Perennial, basal leaves and leaves along the stout stems are opposite, gray/green and rolled inward. The stems are green to pink.  Flowers have five petals and range from a peachy pink color to a bright coral red. The open flower is usually in a  horizontal position rather than pointing upward or downward per Al Schneider.  They are located in semi desert locations on hillsides. These were in sandy soil.
